A theatre remains shut amidst ongoing concerns over the presence of crumbling concrete. 

The Broadway Barking announced on January 12 that it would be imposing a temporary closure after reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) was revealed on the site following a building survey. 

More than a month later, the theatre remains closed and it wrote on Facebook: "The structural surveys have been completed and we now await a schedule of work and a timeline to remove the RAAC."

But shows scheduled to take place in March and April will be postponed or cancelled.

Affected ticketholders will be contacted, the theatre said.

It closed its statement by saying: "We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused to our valued audiences and stakeholders.

"We will share further information as soon as we have it. Thank you for all your messages of support and good wishes for a speedy reopening.

"For now, our ghost light remains illuminated.

The Post contacted The Broadway Theatre today (February 22) to see if there was an update for a date the RAAC would be removed, but were advised they had no further updates at this time.
