Dagenham & Redbridge boss Ben Strevens drew comparisons to his side's loss at Woking a week earlier after a 1-1 draw at Hartlepool United on Saturday.
Dion Pereira’s opener just before half-time sent the Daggers into the break with the lead but they couldn’t hold on for all three points as Joe Grey’s equaliser restored parity for the home side just before the hour mark.
“On the balance of the game, it felt like Woking last week, if I’m being completely honest,” Strevens told the club's website.
“I didn’t want it to feel that way. I thought it was a game where it was cagey and nothing much was happening.
"We’ve gone to a position in the lead where a fantastic ball is played in the middle of the pitch from Keenan [Appiah-Forson]. It’s an unselfish run by Inih [Effiong] to open the space up, and Dion showed his real qualities to break away and score.”
On the Hartlepool equaliser, Strevens praised the execution of the opposition breakaway despite watching on in frustration.
“From there, we had some really good moments to score goals, but we got into the final third with those entries to get us another goal,” he added.
“It’s a sloppy bit of play, but well done to them for taking it as well as they did breaking away and finishing, but I was really disappointed with the goal.
"And that led us to a nervous last 20 or 30 minutes, which I didn’t want. It could have taken a deflected goal or anything.
"It’s a really windy day and we could have come away from here the way we were feeling at Woking last week - being in that position of being comfortable and feeling good in the game.
"You can end up losing the game and that’s not where I want to be, and it’s not the standard I want to be at.”
As an underwhelming season draws to a close with a home game against Aldershot Town at Victoria Road on Saturday (12.15pm), the Daggers boss reflected on how important his side’s away form has been this season.
“I think our efforts on the road have ultimately given us the position we’re in in the league - the 55 points,” he said.
“It’s been as clear as day since the start of the season, especially with our home form. If you look at the table, we’re in and around the play-offs with our away form. Our home form, sadly, at the start of our season, was our problem.
"I’ll certainly be looking to rectify it to make sure we’re better at home, but our away form and the points we’ve picked up away from home are up there with some of the best teams in the league.”
Daggers go into the season finale sitting in 15th place, but could climb as high as 11th or drop as low as 18th in the final table if results elsewhere do not go their way.
