TWO first-half goals from top scorer Inih Effiong secured Dagenham & Redbridge an impressive 2-1 win at Rochdale at the weekend.
Effiong scored either side of a well-taken effort from the hosts’ Tyrese Sincliar.
And Daggers boss Ben Strevens was delighted with the victory.
“It’s a massive three points for us and it was a really good team performance,” Strevens told the club website.
“Front to back everyone was doing their jobs, particularly without the ball because they had lots of possession.
“We had to be really disciplined.
“They started the second half really well and they were right on the front foot.
“We had to ride that storm out and as the game opened up we started getting chances.
“It’s a massive win and to back up Solihull Moors on Tuesday night [a 1-1 draw] is a really good feeling.”
Dagenham drew 1-1 at Solihull, thanks to an 89th-minute goal from recent loan signing Dion Pereira and built on that well at Spotland.
Daggers opened the scoring after just nine minutes when Sam Ling played a fine through ball into the path of Offiong who powered home a well-taken effort from the right hand side of the penalty area.
The hosts hit back five minutes before the break when Ryan East teed up Sinclair to score with a superb curling shot from the left hand side of the box.
However, Dagenham soon regained the lead after Ryan Hill was brought down in the box by Jimmy Keohane and referee Sam Mulhall pointed to the spot.
That enabled 32-year-old Offiong to confidently step forward and fire his 12th goal of the season into the centre of the net, taking his league tally for the club to 21 in 39 appearances since joining on a free transfer from Aldershot a year ago.
The victory moved Dagenham up to 14th place in the National League standings ahead of Tuesday night’s tough-looking test at home to runaway leaders Chesterfield.
Dagenham are also back in action at the Chigwell Construction Stadium on Saturday as they take on bottom of the table Oxford City.
