Matt Robinson is hoping Dagenham & Redbridge can enjoy a good run in the FA Cup this season - but says promotion to the Football League is absolutely their priority.
Daryl McMahon's men head to Beckenham Town for a fourth qualifying round tie on Saturday, looking to avoid an upset against the Isthmian League South East side.
And Robinson says they cannot afford any complacency, having been held to a 1-1 draw by Essex rivals Southend United in the National League last weekend.
"It's always nice to have a run in the FA Cup," he said.
"Obviously, for non-league players it's romanticised a lot, that you get to play at the top, probably where we all hoped we'd be when we were younger.
"So there's a chance of that which is always nice. We'll aim to go as far as we can in it.
"I'm not saying it's their final, but they will be up for it. They've probably got quite a few players who have played at this level previously and think 'look at their form, if we get into them'.
"It's a one-off game. It doesn't go on form, it doesn't go on anything else. If they turn up and we don't they can win.
"It's about taking it on face value as another game to go and play and play well and win."
Daggers took a first-half lead against Southend through Junior Morias and had chances to extend their advantage before the break.
Captain Robinson had a shot saved by a diving Blondy Nna Noukeu in the second half, before Callum Powell earned the visitors a point 11 minutes from time.
And Robinson felt it was a solid performance on the back of a superb midweek win at high-flying Chesterfield, as they look to put an inconsistent start to the campaign behind them.
"I'm not going to say a turning point. I think the most important thing is that we have to take it game by game, and treat every performance like a new day," he added.
"We're only as good as the game we're in, not our last game. If we did that we'd win more than we lose, because we win, lose, win, lose.
"The most important thing to emphasise is that we just concentrate on what's in front of us in that particular moment and try and get three points on as many occasions as possible.
"The emphasis for us is obviously to try and get out of this division first and foremost and a cup run would be a lovely bonus. That's our goal for the year."
