A school spokesperson said: "This is a first for Chadwell Heath, and a huge well done goes to our brilliant mathematician, Yahya, for doing so well."
The year nine pupil was also the only child at Chadwell Heath Academy to achieve the gold award in the Junior Maths Challenge, meaning he places in the top ten per cent of participants nationally.
The challenge took place before the summer holidays and 60 pupils from the school's year nine cohort took part.
