I recently had the pleasure of dining at KöD, London's only Danish steakhouse, which just opened its second location in Soho.
As someone who’s always on the hunt for unique foodie experiences, I was excited to explore this fresh addition to the city’s vibrant culinary scene.
KöD, which translates to "meat" in Danish, is part of the DiningSix group—a successful Danish hospitality brand celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.
The new Soho site follows the success of KöD’s first London location in the city, which launched in March 2023.
Located on St Anne’s Court, the Soho restaurant offers a similar experience to its sister spot, but with a few new twists that set it apart.
From the moment I stepped in, the restaurant’s sleek design and warm atmosphere made it clear that KöD is all about quality and attention to detail.
My friend and I kicked off our evening with cocktails—a classic Espresso Martini and a refreshing, fruity Desert Flower—accompanied by a complimentary basket of bread with creamy garlic butter.
For starters, my friend enjoyed the smoked salmon and avocado, while I devoured the garlic prawns with Tabasco dip.
The prawns were fresh, light, and savoury, perfectly complemented by the spicy kick of the Tabasco dip.
The main menu centres on premium, grass-fed steaks aged for a minimum of 35 days, promising an exceptional dining experience.
Our lovely waitress, Sara, guided us through the menu and helped us choose the perfect steak. And let me tell you, they did not disappoint.
We both opted for the £45 200g fillet steak, accompanied by truffle fries, hispi cabbage, and mashed potatoes with wagyu.
We also shared a béarnaise sauce and the KöD signature sauce, a sweet and balanced port wine glaze.
My medium-rare steak was nothing short of perfect—tender, flavourful, and showcasing the kind of quality you’d expect from a luxury restaurant.
The sides were equally impressive, with the garlicy, flavoursome hispi cabbage being my personal favourite.
We spent the remainder of our evening sinking into a bottle of 2021 red wine, which surprisingly converted me to the red side, as I usually prefer white.
And just when we thought we couldn’t eat another bite, Sara recommended the £8 fried apple pie with vanilla ice cream and caramelised white chocolate—a perfect sweet ending to our evening.
KöD is the brainchild of founding partner Morten P. Ortwed, who, along with five friends, launched the first KöD in Denmark in 2014.
Since then, they’ve expanded into Norway and now London, bringing a distinctly Danish approach to hospitality.
The prices at KöD may be on the luxury side, but they are worth every penny, especially considering the exceptional service, vibe, and food from start to finish.
Overall, KöD is a fantastic addition to London’s dining scene, bringing a touch of Danish flair and exceptional steak to the heart of Soho.
Whether you’re a steak lover, cocktail fanatic, or just looking for a new spot to try, KöD should definitely be on your list.
