A police officer was injured after a “hit and run” crash in Goodmayes.
At around 6.45pm on August 6, officers attempted to stop a grey Lexus on A12, close to the junction with Barley Lane.
The car reportedly failed to stop, and police gave chase, as well as setting up a “stinger site”.
At this point, the Lexus mounted the pavement before crashing into a police officer, Metropolitan Police claim.
The officer was rushed to hospital, where his injuries were assessed to not be life-threatening. He has since been discharged.
The suspect reportedly drove from the scene, and the car was later found abandoned in the Kingsmead estate in Hackney.
Shayden Mullings, 23, of Daventry Road in Harold Hill, has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, dangerous driving, driving without insurance and driving without a licence.
He appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court yesterday (August 16) and is next due to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court on September 16.
