A man has been taken to hospital after emergency services received calls of a person standing on a bridge over a major road.
The A406 North Circular and A124 London Road under the Barking Flyover was closed in both directions from about 9.15am this morning (August 13).
The Metropolitan Police said they received a "safety call" at 10.20am regarding a man on a bridge in Highbridge Road, Barking.
Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and the road was closed as a precaution.
A Met spokesperson said: "The man was brought to safety at 10.54pm.
"He was detained under the Mental Health Act and taken to hospital."
