The MP for Dagenham and Rainham has issued a statement reassuring constituents following a string of violent riots across the country.
Margaret Mullane has called the riots "mindless violence", condemning scenes seen in other parts of the country.
The Labour politician was elected to the seat at last month's general election.
Ms Mullane said: "I completely condemn the scenes unfolding on our streets, in towns and cities across our country.
"This isn't protest, it is mindless violence and has no place in our communities.
She said she had been in contact with the police and said "deplorable behaviour will not be tolerated in Dagenham and Rainham".
The rioting has broken out across the UK following the fatal stabbing of three children attending a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport.
Since the tragedy, damage has been done to mosques, hotels and a library, with rioters clashing with police.
Just earlier this week, Waltham Forest Council confirmed they were looking to verify details of a rumoured protest in the borough.
Ms Mullane paid tribute to the families of the murdered girls as well as the Southport community, saying their grief "had been hijacked".
She wrote: "My heart also goes out to the families who now feel unsafe walking the streets where they live.
"Innocent people have been attacked and buildings have been burned.
"I know people in Dagenham and Rainham will be feeling worried but rest assured that the police remain proactive and vigilant.

"Our diverse heritage is our strength and as a community we have more in common than that which divides us."
The MP is expected to be speaking with local faith groups in the coming days, as well as holding discussions with police, councils and constituents.
