The best and worst GP practices in Barking and Dagenham have been revealed in the latest NHS England patient survey.
Patients across Barking and Dagenham have taken part in the 2024 GP Patient Survey, giving their experiences and thoughts on the performance of their local doctors surgeries.
The survey asked people to provide feedback on receptionists, ease of contact and how helpful the receptionists are at the GPs they are registered with.
The results also produced a percentage score for each GP practice on overall experience, with some receiving positive overall ratings from as high as 81 per cent of respondents.
Nationally, 74 per cent of patients said they had positive overall experiences of their GP practice.
Dr A Moghal's practice in Becontree Avenue, Dagenham was given the highest positive experience rating of all in the borough, at 81.8 per cent.
This was closely followed by Dr KM Alkaisy's practice in Urswick Road, Dagenham, that received positive overall ratings from 81.4 per cent of respondents.
The practice with the lowest recorded positive experience responses was Dr SZ Haider's in Valance Avenue, Dagenham.
However, it was Dr M Fateh's surgery in First Avenue, Dagenham, that produced the highest percentage of responses for overall negative experience from 35.5 per cent of respondents.
Not only did Dr A Moghal's practice receive the highest percentage of positive overall experiences, it also performed the best in data responses for the ease of contacting by phone and helpful receptionists.
Tulasi Medical Practice in Bennettes Castle Lane, Dagenham, was found to have the least helpful receptionists, and was the hardest to reach by phone, with just 22.5 per cent of positive responses.
A spokesperson for NHS North East London said: "We are always keen to learn from patient feedback so these results give us valuable insight in helping us to support our GP practices to be as good as they possibly can be as well as informing our primary care priorities overall.
"Despite practices facing a growing and increasingly complex demand for their services, the 2024 survey results show more than two-thirds of people (68 per cent) across north east London reported their experience of their surgery as ‘good’ overall which is testament to the ongoing efforts of our GPs and primary care teams."
They added that they "recognise there is room for improvement" and are already supporting practices "to improve or upgrade their telephone and appointment booking systems".
