A funeral parlour is holding a coffee morning to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The Co-op Funeralcare in Highams Park is inviting the public on August 6 to enjoy “a brew and a chat” where they can speak openly about cancer “in a welcoming environment”. Children are also being invited with their parents.
“A lot of us have been personally affected or have lost loved ones to cancer,” Co-op funeral arranger Faryn Sloane said.
“Macmillan is particularly close to home, so we want to create a cheerful environment where people can feel comfortable to talk or simply enjoy some company.”
Advice on support is being given from 10am to 2pm with a light-up memorial tree for visitors to share the names of loved ones as a tribute and take time to reflect.
A book swap and a children’s colouring competition are also being arranged.
Places at the Co-op Funeralcare coffee morning in Winchester Road can be booked by an email to highamspark@letsco-operate.com.
