A group of young "eco warriors" in Barking have been helping to clean up the streets.
Pupils at Thames View Junior School began their journey in February and wasted no time to make a difference.
They go out on litter picking patrols every week in the neighbourhood, led by Year 6 teacher Nazhath Khan and supported by parents and local councillors.
“Our eco warriors are a shining example for the community,” the school’s trip organiser Karen Hastilow said. “They remind us of the importance of sustainability and the impact we can make for a common cause.”
One of their achievements has been setting up their own eco-shop in school, offering environmentally-friendly hand wash, hair and body products as “sustainable options” to influence their mums and dads to buy products that are carbon dioxide neutral.
