Children have made their West End debut singing and dancing in a performance of the Thoroughly Modern Millie musical.

Members of Stagecoach Performing Arts school in Woodford were in the spotlight at His Majesty’s Theatre in the Haymarket, alongside hundreds of others from all over the UK and Germany.  

The West End performance was a showcase of their creativity, performance skills and artistic expression.

“The young students deserved their moment in the spotlight,” the Woodford school’s principal Theo Campion said proudly. “They put in tremendous effort to set up the performance.”

Songs included Not For The Life Of Me, What Do I Need With Love and Forgot About The Boy. 

But the youngsters learn much more than how to sing, dance and act, the school insists. The aim is to “blossom into well-rounded individuals ready to embrace life and all its opportunities”.

Stagecoach has had more than a million youngsters pass through its doors in the 36 years since it opened in Woodford. Many have gone on to careers in performing arts, from blockbuster films to roles in local theatre productions. 

Early Stages classes are open for children aged four to six and main stages classes for six to 18-year-olds.
