Detectives have shared details of a car they believe is linked to a shooting in Dagenham, as the police presence in the area is to be increased.

Officers were called to Porters Avenue at 1.06pm yesterday (June 5), with reports of a person having been shot.

London's Air Ambulance was dispatched alongside the London Ambulance Service in response to the emergency. 

Video footage taken from the crime scene showed an air ambulance landed nearby in Parsloes Park.

A 23-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound that police believe was inflicted in Wren Road.

He was taken to hospital where his condition is not life-threatening or life-changing. 

The Met released details of a lead they are following, appealing to the public for help. 

Det Insp Iain Wallace said: “We believe that a black coloured Ford Fiesta was involved and are keen to hear from anyone who has information or footage concerning that vehicle.

“We are working hard to take illegal guns off the streets, but we can’t achieve that alone.

The police presence in the area is being ramped up in the wake of the incident "to provide reassurance", a Met Police spokesperson said.

There have been no arrests so far as part of the investigation, which is being led by Trident detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command.

A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said that an ambulance crew, a motorcycle paramedic, an incident response officer and members of its tactical response unit also attended the scene.
