London’s Air Ambulance was dispatched after a shooting in Dagenham.
Police were called to Porters Avenue shortly after 1pm this afternoon (June 5) to reports of a shooting.
At the scene, emergency services found a man, believed to be aged 22, suffering with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound.
The man was taken to hospital where his injuries have been assessed as not life-threatening or life-changing.
Video footage taken from the crime scene showed an air ambulance had landed nearby in Parsloes Park.
A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said that an ambulance crew, a motorcycle paramedic, an incident response officer and members of its tactical response unit also attended the scene.
A police investigation is under way, but no arrests have been made at this stage.
People have been advised that they can expect to see an increased police presence in the immediate area in the coming hours.
Barking and Dagenham Council has told people to avoid the area.
The authority said that Porters Avenue is currently closed in both directions between Wren Road and Gale Street.
