Huge plumes of smoke have filled the Canning Town skyline after a fire at a construction site.
London Fire Brigade (LFB) was called to the fire at a tower block in Silvertown Way shortly before 8.30am this morning (June 4).
Pictures and video footage from the scene showed huge plumes of smoke rising from the block.
A crane could also be seen next to the building, although it did not appear to be on fire.
A spokesperson for LFB advised people to keep windows and doors closed, and to avoid the area, due to the large amounts of smoke.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service also responded to the blaze, with numerous emergency vehicles pictured in Silvertown Way.
Firefighters from Plaistow, Poplar, and East Ham stations deployed a 64m ladder at the scene.
