Loudspeakers and cat-calling will be banned in certain areas of Barking and Dagenham as part of proposals to prevent antisocial behaviour.
Barking and Dagenham Council is launching a consultation to renew two Public Space Protection Orders (PSPO) within the borough to control antisocial behaviour.
The two PSPOs up for renewal are in Barking town centre and Broad Street, Dagenham.
These orders prohibit alcohol consumption in a public place, public urination, spitting, aggressive begging, and groups causing distress or nuisance to residents and other users of the area.
New inclusions are the use of amplified noise equipment, such as loudspeakers, without prior consent and unwanted inappropriate sexual comments towards women, across all PSPOs.
Another PSPO is earmarked for Gale Street in Dagenham.
The last renewal happened in 2021, with 460 breaches recorded by the community safety enforcement team within Barking town centre and Heathway, Dagenham in the last six months.
Councillor Syed Ghani, cabinet member for enforcement and community safety, said: "PSPOs play a huge role in enabling us to crack down on antisocial behaviour in hot spot areas.
"We continue to listen to concerns raised by our residents and businesses, and I would urge all residents and businesses to take part in the consultation and have their say."
