Two teenagers have been charged with attempted murder as a man continues to fight for his life after being shot and stabbed in Dagenham.
The 17-year-olds were previously arrested in Ashford, Kent on May 10 on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
Their arrests follow a shooting and stabbing in Whalebone Lane South earlier this month.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police were dispatched to the road in Dagenham on May 2, after reports came in of a man being stabbed.
A second call came in a short while after, claiming that gunshots had been heard in the same area.
A 19-year-old man was found at the scene suffering from what were initially believed to be stab wounds.
Hospital staff later confirmed the man had been shot and stabbed.
His condition remains life-threatening and his next of kin have been informed.
Both teens, who cannot be named for legal reasons, have now been charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life after they were questioned in London.

They are due to appear in court today (May 13).
Five men and a woman, aged between 18 and 25 years old, had previously been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
They have since been bailed pending further enquiries.
