The UK's most expensive postcodes to buy a property have been revealed and surprise surprise, they're all in London.

Research conducted by Cardinal Steels and Online Marketing Surgery using HM Land Registry data found the 20 most expensive postcodes in the UK finding W1S in Hannover Square topped the list.

The majority of the postcodes are within the west or central London with only one on the east side of the capital.

Topping the list with an average house price of £5,662,000 was Hanover Square (W1S) which recently saw a three-bedroom flat go on sale for a guide price of £4.2 million.

Elsewhere on the list, the prime and historic location of Belgravia (SW1W and SW1X) was the fourth most expensive in the UK.

Belgravia has a house price £3,257,165 making it seem like a steal compared to Hanover Square.

Home to the iconic carnival, Notting Hill (W11) is one of many west London locations mentioned on the list.

Notting Hill (W11) has a price guide of £2,474,365 with current property listings offering three-bed flats for £7.5m to £4.5m.

Further down in London's most expensive postcodes is Somerset House (WC2R) with a price tag of £1,983,750.

Towards the lower end of the list is Barnes (SW13) with an average of £1,547,584 where you can get a semi-detached four-bed and three-bath home for £4.1m.
