Two housing estates in Barking targeted in a closure order after anti-social behaviour will remain shut until July.
The Metropolitan Police have issued an update on the closure order for Heenan and Bateman Close, confirming it has been extended by another three months until July 7.
Closure orders are imposed on premises that have resulted in or are likely to result in public nuisance and disorder, banning access to the premises for the approved time.
In the case of Heenan and Bateman Close, the Met and Barking and Dagenham Council brought the application to court on January 9 after receiving increasing reports of anti-social behaviour, the use and sale of drugs and people accessing the blocks to sleep.
Between January 9 and February 15, officers carried out 21 stop and searches, made three arrests and formed 12 intelligence reports from the sites.

Gary Jones, operational director for enforcement, regulatory and community safety at the council, said: “I’m really pleased that the closure order at Bateman and Heenan Close has been extended for a further three months.
“We know this area has been plagued with antisocial behaviour in the past, but we have seen a significant reduction since the order was brought in.
"We will continue to work with the police and local residents to make sure we continue to crack down on the issues here.”
