A cigarette litterer has been ordered to pay a fine after he was caught dropping it out of a car window.
Mohammed Rahman, of Old Castle Street, Aldgate was caught by enforcement officers dropping a cigarette from the window of a rented Porsche Panamera in Green Lane, Dagenham.
Investigations led to Rahman who was renting the car on April 21.
He was subsequently issued with a fixed penalty notice on May 12 and ordered to pay the fine within 14 days, Barking and Dagenham Council said.
Rahman failed to do so despite receiving a reminder letter and was summoned to Barkingside Magistrates Court.
On November 28, the court found Rahman guilty in his absence.
He was ordered to pay a £440 fine, costs of £596 to Barking and Dagenham Council and a victim surcharge of £176.
Councillor Syed Ghani, cabinet member for enforcement and community safety, said: “We won’t stand for littering in our borough, and we will always take action.
“Dropping his cigarette from his rented car has resulted in him paying an expensive fine.”
