Armed police were called to a main road in Dagenham this week after reports of gunfire, it has been confirmed.
The incident happened in Heathway, Dagenham on November 13.
A spokesperson for the Met Police said: "Police were called at 17:45hrs on Monday, 13 November to reports of a firearm discharge on Heathway in Dagenham.
"Officers, including firearms officers, attended.
"There were no reported injuries, and those believed to be involved had left the scene."
A man who wishes to remain anonymous told this paper: "We heard a fire and we went outside and guys are running here and there.
"The guy was holding a pistol and was running towards Heathway station.
"I wasn’t sure if it was real or fake but we heard the sound of a fire."

Dagenham locals have reported seeing an increased police presence in Heathway this week, with some claiming to have seen forensics at the crime scene.
One Facebook user said: "Police have cordoned the footpath off and forensic officers in blue crawling on floor doing a fingertip search!"
No arrests have been made in connection to the incident and enquiries are ongoing.
