A college student from Romford has won an accolade for her baking skills in an international culinary competition at the ExCeL.
Denitsa Georgieva, who studies cookery at Barking and Dagenham College, won bronze at the International Salon Culinaire contest.
“I’ve worked over the years to be able to compete in competitions like this,” she said.
“I’m happy winning bronze with my creations so far.”
Her task was preparing four varieties of bread rolls — feta and olive, British cheese, naan baguette with onion and dried tomato.
Denitsa competed in the student category with the judge predicting that she’ll be “going for gold next year” with her talent.
College lecturer Kelly Mackenzie said: “Denitsa’s flavour combinations worked well, with judges saying she’d be able to take a gold next time with only a few alterations.”
Hospitality trade professionals from all over the UK packed the Hotel, Restaurant and Catering exhibition to see latest innovations in the industry and network with some of the country’s top chefs.
